This year the Museum Folkwang together with the Neue Essener Kunstverein launched the new residency program Neue Folkwang Residence. Every year, two fellowships are awarded to international artists, each for a five-month working stay in Essen. The first two fellows, Olu Ogunnaike from London and Min Yoon from Vienna, have now moved into the new residential and studio building situated in the Eltingviertel. The program is made possible by the Folkwang-Museumsverein as well as the Olbricht Foundation and is furthermore sponsored by Vonovia.
Associated with the scholarship is a solo exhibition at the Neue Essener Kunstverein or at the Museum Folkwang as part of the 6 ½ Wochen exhibition series.
The new residential and studio building is located in Essen's Eltingviertel, a neighborhood close to the city center, the university and the main train station. The two fellows have access to a renovated 180 m² building dating back to 1873 with several floors for both living and working.
